Revel at Midnight
Revel at Midnight is an all-original poly-rock band. Blending elements of classic rock, funk, jam-band, blues, bluegrass, hard rock, and alt-country, Revel's catchy melodies, strong hooks, and live improvisations have made them a staple in the Hudson Valley music scene for over two years now. With thought-provoking lyrics and a steady beat that never stops, the band keeps its ever-growing audience dancing all night long. Steeped in Americana, the band's lyrics render images of lonesome highways, rolling hills, deep blue skies, dark pine forests, filled with a host of bandits, desperadoes, heroes and villains, all making their way in an uncertain landscape. Instrumentally, the band pushes the boundaries of rock and roll.
Drummer, Todd Broomhead, plays a traditional drum kit, as well as various African drums, and literally bells and whistles. Todd is also a master electronic musician, manipulating both vintage and state-of-the-art groove boxes, loop stations, and MIDI-controlled electronics. Bassist, Rob Snyder, plays vintage and new basses as well as many different types of keyboards as well as electronic instruments, too. Guitarist, Dan Pitt, plays a custom built guitar that provides him with the crisp sounds needed for bluegrass, the rich tones needed for hard rock, and the deep sustains needed for jam-band style music. Dan's pedal board is loaded with phasers, slicers, flangers, delays, echoes, wahs, and nearly every type of analogue effect available to guitarists.
On certain nights the band will fuse poetry into its jams, use acoustic instruments, or just plain old shred. The band is committed to varying set lists, exploratory jams, and lots of fun. You really never know what might happen at a Revel at Midnight concert!
